About Us

Welcome to American Esports League! AEL is a community focused esports league founded by two Philly native gamers. Our intent is to blend competition and community into a place where gamers can explore their passion at the next level.

At a young age, we began playing video games with our older siblings, our only true competition from day 1. Soon, we found the kids down the street enjoyed the same games so our peer competition grew. Since those early years, technology advanced, and we found our pool of competition grew exponentially. We went from LAN parties to global reach in a matter of years. Just as we witnessed the growth of the average gamer’s geographic reach, the gaming industry grew ferociously. But it seemed like something was lost along the way. Though there is still room to head to a friends house to couch-coop some FPS or head to head esports tournaments, it seems like the community that grew out of a passion for gaming has stagnated. We found that, while the professional esports scene has consistently climbed in popularity over the last few years, the average gamer was being left behind to live in admiration and wonder at those professionals. AEL was founded to bridge that gap, to offer true competition, while promoting a community focused culture. We believe esports has a place alongside any local intramural sports leagues. AEL is here to create an outlet for any gamer with a desire to meet those in your community with a shared passion for esports and competition.

At AEL, we believe in our community. We believe that esports are for everyone, and that there is opportunity in this industry for anyone with a love for video games. We hope to bring together our neighbors and develop an organization of passion, competition, and sportsmanship in a place close to our hearts, doing what we love. We hope you join us on this mission! As we gain interest, we intend to include new games and structures to grow with the community. Look out for new polls to give us feedback and decide what comes next!

Core Values

Community

We believe the globalization of communication has expanded the human community, but simultaneously weakened our relationships. Though we are the most connected we have ever been, our community trust and relationships have been deteriorating rapidly. Let’s start to rebuild that trust, appreciate all the differences that make a culture, and build our neighbors up from within.

Physical and Mental Wellbeing

We believe in the ‘Global’ Health of every individual. The human body is an extremely complex system, neglecting one aspect of the system can result in issues across the board. We believe that caring for oneself, both mentally and physically, leads to a higher quality of life and better performance. Humans are capable of extraordinary things.

Respect

Just like our belief in community, respect is something that we feel has generally deteriorated. When people respect each other, trust, another pillar of any community, begins to form.

Cooperation

Success looks like a team, community, or even complete strangers coming together to make something great. Individuals can be great, but cooperation among those individuals creates the outstanding.

Transparency

We believe transparency builds trust and community. It means being open and honest about how our leagues are run, how decisions are made, and how we communicate with our players, partners, and fans. From clear rules and fair play to open feedback and visible leadership, transparency ensures every member of our community feels informed, respected, and included.
